How to Let Our Support Team Access Your Windows 10 or 11 Computer Using Quick Assist Print

If one of our support staff needs to help you on your computer, we may ask you to use Quick Assist.

Quick Assist is a Microsoft tool built into Windows 10 and Windows 11. It lets you safely share your screen with our support team so we can help you fix a problem.

You do not need to install anything extra.


Before You Start

Please make sure that:

  • Your computer is turned on and connected to the internet
  • You are sitting at the computer
  • You have received a 6-digit code from our support team

Step 1: Open Quick Assist

On your Windows computer:

  1. Click the Start button
  2. Type Quick Assist
  3. Click on Quick Assist when it appears

If you cannot find it, please let our support team know.


Step 2: Click "Get help"

When Quick Assist opens, you will see two options.

Click Get help.


Step 3: Enter the 6-Digit Code

Our support staff will give you a 6-digit security code.

  1. Type the code into the box
  2. Click Submit

Please note: the code only works for a short time. If it does not work, contact us and we will give you a new code.


Step 4: Allow the Connection

Your computer will ask if you want to allow our support team to connect.

Please click Allow or Continue when asked.

You may also be asked if you want to allow:

  • Full control – this lets us move the mouse and type to help fix the issue
  • View screen – this only lets us see your screen

In most cases, please choose Full control so we can properly assist you.


Step 5: Stay at Your Computer

Once connected, our support technician will be able to see your screen.

Please stay at your computer during the session in case:

  • We need you to confirm something
  • Windows asks for permission
  • Your computer needs to be restarted

Step 6: End the Session When Finished

When the support session is finished, you can close Quick Assist.

You can also end the session at any time by closing the Quick Assist window.


Is Quick Assist Safe?

Yes. Quick Assist is a Microsoft tool and uses a temporary security code.

  • The code only works once
  • You must approve the connection before we can access your computer
  • You can end the session at any time
